Marieme is a distinguished Senior Executive with 16
years of expertise in the fields of digital inclusion and payment systems, particularly within Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa. She earned a master’s degree in strategic management and sales from Bordeaux Ecole Management in Senegal, and has further enhanced her qualifications with various certifications from reputable institutions, including UCAM Montreal. Her credentials also encompass specialized certifications such as Digital ID Expert Certification, Learning GDPR, Agile Requirements Foundations, Digital Business Indicators, and Cybersecurity Foundations. Marieme’s expertise in strategic consulting is a cornerstone of her professional journey. She possesses a comprehensive understanding of digital services,
core payment systems, money transfer mechanisms,
gateway payments, and business development. With a
solid foundation in management marketing, sales, and
digital financial services for large enterprises,
Marieme has consistently showcased her leadership
skills by launching multiple fintech ventures and
established companies across Western and Central
Africa. From 2022 to 2024, she held the position of
Director of Merchant Sales and Acquisition for West
and Central Africa at Visa, where she played a pivotal
role in shaping the company’s strategic direction.

Before her time at Visa, she served as the Business
Development Manager for acceptance and digital initiatives
at MasterCard, concentrating on French-speaking sub-
Saharan nations, and was instrumental in developing the
Mastercard FSSA Acceptance Strategic Vision for the new
cluster. Furthermore, between 2021 and 2022, she facilitated
Flutterwave’s interactions with financial regulators and key
government officials throughout North, West, and Central
Africa. Marieme has also served as a senior advisor in
investment and fintech for Microsave, a leader in market-
driven solutions in digital financial services, which provides
the strategy for MPESA. Additionally, she has established
connections with StellarOne, a UK-based consortium of
seasoned strategic and investment professionals committed
to supporting clients in financial institutions and
corporations across Europe and Africa.
Alongside her substantial professional experience, Marieme
has occupied various leadership positions. She is notably a
founding member of the Africa Fintech Forum (AFF), which
stands as the largest association within the fintech sector in
francophone Africa. Additionally, she leads the African
Women in FinTech & Payments (AWFP) for the francophone
Africa division. This organization serves as a platform that empower and inspire.
